With Bible in Hand And upon the earth distress of nations Following the spectacular scenes described in the Bible of the birth of Jesus Christ very little is recorded of his childhood or youth. His home was with Joseph and Mary at Nazareth who saw him "increase in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and men." Jesus began his ministry at about the age of thirty. His destiny as God's son is revealed in Bible prophecy and tells that he laid down his sinless life on the cross and was raised from the tomb after three days, "God, having 'loosed the pains of death', because it was not possible that he should be held by it". (Luke 2) (Acts 2) The Apostle Paul under arrest in Athens, about 50 AD, spoke of the time when Jesus will return. He said, "God has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom He has appointed and has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead". So the first request in the Lord's prayer is, "Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
