With Bible in Hand And upon the earth distress of nations A few days before his arrest and crucifixion four of Jesus' closest friends came to him as he sat on the Mount of Olives overlooking Jerusalem. Earlier in the day he had prophesied the destruction of the City when they had thought he was about to become its king. His words worried them. Now he repeated the prophecy in greater detail. Less than forty years later, in AD 70, Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans and the Jewish State of Israel ceased to exist until it was re-established in 1948 (Mark chp 13) Jesus also told them about the state the world would be in at the time of his return. "On the earth" there would be "distress of nations"A world in which "men's hearts" would be "failing them from fear and looking after those things coming on the earth." He said it would be "in those days they will see the Son of Man coming with power and great glory." (Luke chp 21) Public Bible talks in November (God willing) Why is the world in such a mess?
